There are many reasons to get a humidifier. If you see the lovely sun and bikini girls out of your window, then forget it, you don’t need a humidifier. The warm tropical beach is enough to make anyone healthy.
As for us in the cold or dry climates:
- Wonder why flus always happen in winter? Cold and dry air gives viruses and bacteria a good environment to float around in, and that means more chance of breathing them in. Adding moisture in the air will help prevent nasal congestion and catching your death in the cold!
- During winter, the use of a warming system may leave the air dry. Dry air reduces oxygen intake, thus leaving you lethargic. Adding a humidifier instantly adds moisture to the environment you’re in and keeps the area comfortable.
- A humidifier helps relieve a variety of physical discomfort caused by dehydration such as itchy and flaky skin, cracked lips and fingertips, itchy eyes, difficulty in breathing, etc.
- Asthma attacks in the cold? Cold and dry air irritates your breathing airways and if you have asthma this will cause a constriction of the air passages. A humidifier, especially a warm mist humidifier will help keep asthma at bay.
- In extreme cases of dryness, expensive furniture may appear lackluster or develop cracks and require higher maintenance, which translates to higher costs. Using a humidifier at home can save them!
There is a variety of humidifiers for you to choose from, the popular types being cool mist and warm mist humidifiers. Find out what type of humidifier you need here.
